CHOLMONDELEY: RUNNING CANCER OUT OF TOWN
12 April 2010
The annual Cholmondeley 10k Run, in aid of the North West Cancer Research Fund (NWCRF), will take place in the stunning grounds of the Cholmondeley Castle this Sunday (18th April 2010).
The event hopes to raise around £2000 for the charity, with already over 100 runners signed up to take part.
Primrose Dewhurst, Secretary of the NWCRF’s South Cheshire Committee who have organised the event for the past 20 years said: “I am overwhelmed at our local community’s generosity and support.
“I would encourage anyone who wants to take part, to bring their families and have a wonderful day out”.
NWCRF provides funding into the causes of cancer and how it spreads. It also ensures that 90p in every £1 raised goes directly to support the research.
Family and friends will be gathering in the grounds to support the runners and enjoy what is hoped to be the start of the summer weather.
Cholmondeley Castle’s wonderful gardens are open on the day for the public to explore, along with many other sights including the St. Nicholas's Chapel, with its spectacular stain glass alter window.
For those wishing to relax, refreshments are served in the tea rooms.
If you are interested in taking part the main Cholmondeley Run, registration is from 9am, for a 10.15am start
Families can also take part in the Family Fun Run around the castle grounds, from 10.30am.
