PRIESTLEY TEAM UP WITH NORTH WEST CANCER RESEARCH FUND
20 November 2009
Second year students studying Graphic Design at Priestley College have given their backing and visual design flare to support one of the North West’s leading charities.
The North West Cancer Research Fund is an independent charity who aim to raise £1 million a year to support the study of cancer. The funds they do raise are awarded to Scientists at Bangor, Lancaster and Liverpool Universities.
The students at the College have been working closely with the charity and PR agency Third Marketing to develop a range of marketing materials as part of a live brief.
Anne Jackson, the Chief Executive Officer from the charity recently visited campus to talk to the students and thank them for their efforts.
Holly Caddock was deemed to be the winning designer for the brief and her work is now likely to be used in an up and coming campaign to support the charity.
Meanwhile the work of fellow students Kimmy Glazebrook, Shauna Jackson, Helen Whittingham and Jeni Scott were also praised and shortlisted for possible individual fundraising campaigns in the future for NWCRF.
Commenting on her visit, Anne Jackson, said, "The project was an excellent opportunity to work with young people in the area who looked at our charity through fresh eyes. They certainly gave us food for thought and how to promote ourselves to a younger audience."
Priestley Tutor, Paul McConnell, added, "We were really grateful to work with the NWCRF on this brief, the feedback the students received from Anne was really useful and gives them the type of advice and guidance they can then use in further projects."
