FUNDRAISERS CLOCK ON FOR SUPPER PARTY TO AID RESEARCH
30 April 2009
West Cancer Research Fund will be leading the charity’s Lune Valley branch through a brief history of time – at least, as recorded by his family’s world-famous clocks.
The Potts dynasty stretches back more than 200 years and across five generations of the family, who established several expert clock-making businesses across the north of England.
Mr Potts will be sharing that story at the Supper Party to be held at Tunstall Village Hall on Thursday 14 May.
The North West Cancer Research Fund raises money to support fundamental research into cancer, carried out by scientists based at Lancaster, Liverpool and Bangor Universities.
Lune Valley branch chairman, Olivia Ley, said: “We are delighted that Michael Potts will be speaking at our Supper Party. Many of us collect clocks or wish we knew more about them – it’s such a fascinating story.
“After a record year for us in 2008, when we raised more than £27,400, we are determined to do all we can to at least match that total. We are always delighted to welcome new faces too – all support is greatly appreciated.”
The event starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are £10.
