FLINTSHIRE FUNDRAISERS PULL OUT THE STOPS
06 February 2009
Flintshire pupils who raised £500 for a cancer charity have been thanked for their hard work and generosity.
Youngsters from Ysgol Delyn in Mold raised the money by staging a school concert and by selling photographs to parents.
Beryl Powell, chairman of the Mold branch of the NWCRF said: "What a wonderful gesture from these parents and children.
"They wish to join in the fight to find the cause of this hideous disease and to find better drugs and therapies. Sadly one of the pupils had lost his father to cancer two weeks ago. He was so brave.
"I was proud to be able to tell them that around 90 pence in every pound they have collected will go directly to university researchers in Bangor, Liverpool and Lancaster.
"One of the projects at Bangor is to find the reason for the extreme fatigue which people suffer after therapy."
