NWCRF has recently undergone a review of its research funding strategy taking into account the requirements of their membership of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC).
A questionnaire was designed and, circulated to 38 people/users and 22 responses were received.
The NWCRF Scientific Committee carefully considered the responses and, has valued the following points for the next five year period:-
NWCRF Strategy
NWCRF will concentrate on supporting cancer research and, building their research capacity across the regional footprint of the Charity.
Academic Posts/Laboratories
NWCRF is committed to the funding of academic posts/laboratory centres in the University of Liverpool, Lancaster and Bangor.
Responsive mode funding
NWCRF is committed to provide responsive mode funding for research across the footprint including,
• New appointees and,
• Pump priming/pilot studies from more established investigators.
Note: NWCRF will give prioritisation to new appointees and, pilot studies from more established investigators. Investigators who have been supported by NWCRF for some time are encouraged to apply to a National Charity as NWCRF grants are not intended for long term support. NWCRF will encourage young/new investigators to enable them to become established.
NWCRF does not prioritise specific areas within its remit of basic cancer research.
Fields of interest
NWCRF will fund basic science only. NWCRF will not fund any buildings and/or clinical care/work.
If you are interested in applying for funds from NWCRF, please contact either info@nwcrf.co.uk or research@nwcrf.co.uk
